Which WordPress theme is actually the fastest? Instead of guessing, we measure. Every month we run Google Lighthouse against the 50 most popular themes on WordPress.org — using each theme’s official demo on wp-themes.com, where every theme serves identical content on identical hosting. That means the score differences below come from one thing only: the theme’s own CSS, JavaScript and fonts.
Scores are Lighthouse performance scores (0–100) for mobile and desktop, along with Largest Contentful Paint and total page weight — the numbers that matter for Core Web Vitals and your own Google rankings.

How to read this table: 90+ (green) is fast; 50–89 (orange) means the theme ships noticeable overhead before your content even starts; page weight shows how much a completely empty site built with the theme already makes visitors download. A lightweight theme won’t fix a slow site by itself — plugins and images usually weigh more — but a heavy theme sets a floor you can never optimize below.
